International Season of 1991/92, Part 5 (December 1991)

December

Germany and Holland wrapped their Euro qualifiers with wins.

Italy in Arrigo Sacchi’s second match in charge defeated Cyprus (2-0) in their last Euro qualifier. Dino Baggio, Demetrio Albertini and Alberigo Evani made their International debuts.

Following West German defender Thomas Berthold’s sending off against Wales (October 16th), UEFA suspended him for 5 matches.

On December 19, 1991, Berti Vogts announced that Berthold would not be included for the Euro 92 squad, as he would miss the first two matches on suspension.

On December 23, 1991, Former Romania National Team Manager Emerich Jenei, was appointed as the new manager of Hungary.

Albania were to host Spain in a Euro Qualifier on December 18th, but due to the political situation in Albania, the match was called off.
