Velimir Sombolac was an Yugoslavian defender from the 50s through the early 70s.
He spent the majority of his career at Partizan Belgrade and Olimpija Ljubljana.
He earned 3 caps all in 1960.
He passed away on May 22nd , aged 77.



Esad Čolaković 
Esad Čolaković was a Macedonian defender who represented teams such as Sloga Jugomagnat and Vardar amongst others in the 90s and 2000s.
He earned a solitary cap in 1998.
He passed away on May 26th , aged just 46.


Gerhard Harpers 
Gerhard Harpers  was a West German midfielder from the 40s and 50s, with a long spell at SV Sodingen.
He earned 6 caps between 1953 and 1955.
He passed away on May 27th , aged 88.


František Jakubec 
František Jakubec was a Czech defender from the 70s and 80s.
He played at Bohemians Prague for a long spell and also had a stint in Switzerland (Bellinzona) and Greece (Veria).

He passed away on May 27th , aged 60.

He passed away on June 4th, aged 83.

Børge Bach was a Danish midfielder from the 60s and 70s.
He had a long spell at Aab.
He earned a solitary cap in 1973.
He passed away on June 7th, aged 71.


John Brooks 
John Brooks was an English forward from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at Reading, Tottenham and Chelsea among others.
He earned 3 caps in 1956 and scored two goals.
He passed away on June 7th, aged 84.

Stephen Okechukwu Keshi 
Stephen Keshi  was a Nigerian defender from the 80s and 90s with his most significant spell at Anderlecht.
He earned 64 caps between 1981 and 1995 and also managed the Nigerian National Team , as well as those of Togo and Mali.
He passed away on June 7th, aged just 54.

Sascha Lewandowski 
Sascha Lewandowski was a German Manager who is remembered mostly as Co-Manager of Bayer Leverkusen (along with Sami Hypia) at Bayer Leverkusen (2012/13).
He passed away on June 8th, aged just 44.


Shuaibu Amodu 
Shuaibu Amodu was a Nigerian player from the 70s and 80s.
He is mostly remembered as the Manager of the Nigerian National Team from the 90s onwards and in many different spells.
He passed away on June 10th, aged just 58.

Giuseppe Virgili 
Giuseppe Virgili  was an Italian striker from the 50s and 60s.
His most significant spell was at Fiorentina in the 50s
He earned 7 caps between 1955 and 1957.
He passed away on June 10th, aged 80.

Alfonso Portugal Díaz was a Mexican defender from the 50s and 60s.
He played for teams such as Necaxa and Club America and also managed in the 70s and 80s.

He had long spells at Basel and Nordstern.
He earned 7 caps between 1969 and 1970.

He played for both Lisbon giants Benfica and Sporting.

Máximo Mosquera Zegarra 
Máximo Mosquera Zegarra  was a Peruvian striker from the 40s into the 60s.
He had spells in Colombia and Spain, as well as his native Peru.
He represented the Peru National Team for a decade from 1947 to 1957.
He passed away on July 27th, aged 88.


Charles Toubé 
Charles Toubé  was a Cameroonian midfielder from the 70s and 80s.
He represented Cameroon Internationally from 1978 to 1984.
He passed away on August 4th, aged just 58.


Karl Bögelein 
Karl Bögelein was a German goalkeeper from the 50s.
His longest spell was at Stuttgart.
He earned a solitary cap for West Germany in 1951.
He passed away on August 9th, aged 89.


Liam Tuohy 
Liam Tuohy was an Irish player from the 50s and  60s.
He played for a number of years at Newcastle United sandwiched between two spells with Shamrock Rovers. He also managed many teams including the Republic of Ireland National Team (1971/73).
He earned 8 caps between 1955 and 1965.
He passed away on August 13th, aged 83.

Dalian Robert Atkinson 
Dalian Robert Atkinson was an English striker from the 80s and 90s.
He played for a number of teams home and abroad, such as Sheffield Wednesday, Real Sociedad and Aston Villa.
He earned one B cap for England in 1990.
He was tragically killed on August 15th , aged just 48. After an altercation at his home, where he ws threatening his father, the police tasered him. He went into cardiac arrest and died on the way to the hospital.

Jean-Marie Faustin Godefroid ‘João’ de Havelange 
Joa Havelange was the Brazilian Lawyer and former Water Polo player who became the President of FIFA for 24 years (1974/1998).
Some praised how he improved the finances of FIFA and turned into one of the most profitable industries on earth.
Others saw him as an autocrat and a tyrant overseeing a corrupt system.
Many have traced the recent woes of FIFA to the culture created by Havelange.
He passed away on August 13th, aged 100.

Anton Pronk 
Anton Pronk  was a  Dutch defender from the 60s and  70s.
He played for most of his career at Ajax Amsterdam and then for Utrecht.
He earned 19 caps between 1961 and 1969.
He passed away on August 26th, aged 75.

Jiří Tichý was a Czech defender from the 50s and 60s.
He played for CH Bratislava and Sparta Prague.
He earned 19 caps between 1957 and 1964. He was part of the 1962 World Cup squad that finished runners-up in the World Cup.
He passed away on August 26th, aged 82.

He played most notably for Gremio.
He earned 7 caps between 1966 and 1967.
He passed away on August 27th, aged 71.

Josip Bukal was a Yugoslavian striker from the 60s and 70s.
He played for mostly with Zeljeznicar and had a spell at Standard Liege.
He earned 24 caps between 1966 and 1974.
He passed away on August 30th, aged 70.

Jan Nilsen was a Norwegian midfielder from the 60s.
He played for Lisleby and Fredriktad.
He earned a solitary cap in 1960.
He passed away on September 3rd, aged 79.

Claudio Olinto de Carvalho ‘Nené’ 
Claudio Olinto de Carvalho ‘Nené’  was a Brazilian midfielder from the 60s and 70s.
After playing for Santos he joined the Italian League and played for Juventus and most notably Cagliari and won the Scudetto in 1970.
He passed away on September 3rd, aged 74.

Zvonko Ivezić 
Zvonko Ivezić  was a Yugoslavian striker from the 60s into the 80s.
He played for mostly for Vojvodina and then joined the French League and played for Sochaux and Racing Club Paris.
He earned 4 caps between 1975 and 1976.
He passed away on September 4th, aged 67.
