Trivia and Facts-Part 46

1-In May 1974, the Scottish National Team players had a drinking session at their Hotel in Largs, Ayshire.
Afterwards in the early morning hours they headed for the shore. At this point Celtic Glasgow’s Jimmy Johnstone (September 30, 1944-March 13, 2006) (while drunk) decided to go on one of the rowing boats. The boat drifted into the sea with Johnstone on it and he was stranded.
The Coastguard had to be called in to rescue him.

2-  To prepare for their World Cup qualifier on October 15th, 1969 vs. Switzerland at Thessaloniki, the Greek Management decided to sequester the squad.
They were to stay in the training camp for five weeks and were not to receive any visitors.
They were only given one day off on the Sundays to play for their League clubs.
The Greeks won the match (4-1), but were ultimately edged out by Romania by one point and missed qualification.

3- Juventus administrator Luciano Moggi has claimed that he tricked Internazionale Milano into signing Olympique Marseille’s Ivory Coast defender Cyrille Domoraud in 1999.
According to Moggi, he had traveled to Marseille to scout on a player. While there, he noticed an Inter Representative scouting the same player.
Moggi claimed that he misdirected him by praising Domoraud so that the Inter Representative would overhear him and Inter ended up signing Domoraud in the coming weeks.

4- Rayo Vallecano Manager Jose Antonio Camacho once fined his squad 50,000 pesetas each for not holding onto a (3-1) lead against Barcelona and ending the match (3-3) tie on December 20, 1992.
He was especially angry since both Barcelona’s Hristo Stoichkov and Ronald Koeman had been sent off at this point.

At halftime, France’s Jules Dewaquez openly criticized the right back Urbain Wallet.

Wallet asked him to take his position if he could do better. Dewaquez took the right back spot and the Hungarians scored seven more goals in the second half for a (13-1) scoreline.
