International Season 1978/79, Part 8 (April 1979)

April

West Germany was held to another scoreless draw in its Group, this time vs. Turkey at Izmir.
Czechsolovakia defeated France (2-0) in Bratislava to effectively eliminate France and qualify. For France, Michel Platini was making his first international appearance of the season following a long lay-off from injury.
Argentina played its first match since winning the World Cup, the previous summer, in a win over Bulgaria (2-1).
Spain held Romania to a tie (2-2) in Craiova to earn a valuable away point in its group.
