of France’s 1988 U-21 winning squad, where he formed an effective partnership
with his friend Eric Cantona.

starting out at Sochaux, he joined Montpellier before spells at Porto and Caen
among others before ending up in Scotland at Hearts in the 90s.

Louis Nicollin was a French businessman who took over
French club Montpellier in the 70s and was responsible for its rise in French
soccer in the 80s and 90s with Laurent Blanc amongst one of his star players.
He was colorful and sometimes controversial character through
his outspokenness.
He had a love-hate relationship with Michel Mezy with whom he
collaborated many times.
Under Nicollin Montpellier won the French Cup in 1990 and the
League title in 2012.
