Error in Casting, Part Fifteen

1- Dimas and Juventus 1996/98

Portuguese defender Dimas joined Juventus midway through the 1996/97 season from Benfica (November 1996). However, opportunities were limited and he was unable to earn a starting spot in the following two seasosn. He departed to Fenerbahce in the early stages of 1998/99 season.

2- Pedro Munitis and Real Madrid 2000/03

Spanish forward Pedro Munitis stood out at Racing Santander in the late 90s. This opened the doors for the Spanish National team and he played in the 2000 Euros. Following the Euros, he was signed by Real Madrid but did not see much action in such a competitive side. He would spend one last season on loan at his old club Santander (2002/03) before being offloaded to Deportivo La Cotuna.

3- Geraldao and Paris St Germain, 1991/92

Brazilian defender Geraldao (from Porto) was part of the new ambitious signings of PSG in the summer of 1991 after Canal + had taken over the club, along with compatriots Ricardo and Valdo (both from Benfica). While Ricardo and Valdo flourished, Geraldao did not fare as well and lasted a single season before departing to Club America in Mexico.

4- Marciano Vink and Genoa (1993/94) and PSV Eindhoven (1994/99)

Dutch midfielder Marciano Vink made his name at Ajax Amsterdam in the late 80s and early 90salong with teammates like Bergkamp, the De Boer brothers, Davids, etc. He earned a move to the Serie A side Genoa in 1993, but his stay was short. He did not play often and the side were relegated. He moved back to Holland and signed for PSV Eindhoven, but his stay there would be marred with injuries and spent significant time recuperating from injuries.

5- Thomas Helmer and Sunderland 1999

German defender Thomas Helmer was a mainstay of Dortmund, Bayern Munich and the German National Team for the majority of the 90s.  He left Bayern Munich in 1999 to join Sunderland in the English premier League. He was hardly used and only played two matches before being loaned to Hertha Berlin. He retired shortly afterwards.
