The uncapped, Part Seventeen

1- Mark Draper
English midfielder Mark Draper started out at Notts County in the late 80s and earned U-21 caps in 1991. He was later signed by Brian Little at Leicetser (1994/95) and then Aston Villa 1995/2000). He did receive a call-up to the full National Team by Glenn Hoddle in 1996 but stayed on the bench and was not called up again.

2- Wim de Connick
1980s Waregem goalkeeper Wim de Connick’s opportunities were limited at the Belgium National Team with Jean-Marie Pfaff, Michel Preud’homme and Gilbert Bodart among others ahead of him. He was selected as a back-up goalkeeper in Belgium’s 1984 UEFA European Championship squad but never gained a cap.

3- Francesco Dell’Anno
Italian midfielder had a good spell at Udinese in the early 90s. This paved a way for a transfer to Inter in 1993. He was unable to grab his chance and failed to make an impact. This all but ended any International prospects.

4- Pascal Nouma
French forward Pascal Nouma was a reliable ‘joker’ for PSG as an emergency forward or key substitute in the 1990s. He did gain caps at U-21 level, but full International honors remained elusive, despite relatively successful spells at Strasbourg, Lens and Besiktas among others.

5- Mariano Bombarda
Spanish-born Argentina Forward Mariano Bombarda started out in Dutch Football. After a successful spell, he earned a transfer to French club Metz, but was disappointing and soon returned. Despite maintaining his goalscoring form back at Groningen and then at Willem II, he was never called up by Argentina, nor potentially Holland.
