The uncapped, Part Eighteen

 

1- Holger Willmer

Holger Willmer was a West German defender in the 80s with Koln and Bayern Munich. He earned some caps at B-level and was in the final 40 for the 1982 World Cup but did not get to earn a full cap.

 

2- Ruud Hesp

Dutch and Roda JC Kerkrade goalkeeper Ruud Hesp was signed by Barcelona Manager Louis van Gaal in 1997. He quickly displaced Vitor Baia as Barcelona’s starting goalkeeper and stayed until 2000. He managed to win two League titles in his spell but failed to earn a single cap despite his success.

 

3- Mike Newell

Mike Newell was an English striker from the late 80s and 90s. He earned U-21 caps and joined Everton in 1989. He later earned two ‘B’ caps but failed to gain a cap with the senior side.

 

4- Franck Dumas

French defender Franck Dumas had the best spell of his career at Monaco in the 90s and won a League title with the side in 1997. He would earn a move to Newcastle United in 1999.

However, this was around the time France had won the World Cup and due to the excellence of the defense, Dumas did not get a look-in.

 

5- Zarko Olarevic

Yugoslav striker Zarko Olarevic made his name in the 1970s with Partizan Belgrade and Radnicki Kragujevac. He earned a transfer to Antwerp and eventually the French League with Lille, Le Havre and OM. Despite his successs in France, he was never called up by the National Team.
