International Season 1987/88, Part 2 (September 1987)


September

Holland and Belgium played in a scoreless tie in a Friendly. Finland defeated Czechoslovakia (3-0) in an EC Qualifier.
Wales defeated Denmark (1-0) at Cardiff in the same group.
West Germany defeated England (3-1) in a high profile friendly.
USSR tied already eliminated France (1-1) at Moscow.
Scotland defeated Hungary (2-0) in a friendly with both goals from Ally McCoist. Joszef Garami was managing Hungary for the first time.
Bulgaria defeated Belgium (2-0) in a qualifier. This turned out to be Belgian goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff’st match with the National Team.
Bulgaria’s Hristo Stoichkov made his International debut.
Rafael Martin Vazquez made his debut for Spain in a Friendly vs. Luxembourg (2-0).
Portugal players ended their strike over the Saltillo Affair. The returning players contributed in Portugal’s win in their qualifier vs. Sweden.
