France qualified for the World Cup, for thr fisrt
time since 1966, by defeating Bulgaria (3-1). It was the last macth of
Bulgaria’s coaching duo : Hristo Mladenov and Ioncho Arsov.
England defeated Italy (2-0) at Wembley, but Italy
nevertheless had the upper hand in the Group as they only had to defeat
Luxembourg the following month.
It was the last match of the Italian defensive Legend
Giacinto Facchetti.
Hungary defeated Bolivia in the second Leg of their
playoff to advance to the World Cup.
Spain defeated Yugoalvia (1-0) in Belgrade to qualify
for the World Cup.
