On
Thursday, as expected Gianluigi Buffon announced that he was leaving Juventus
after 17 years. It was still unclear whether he would retire or play elsewhere.
There has bene some chatter that he might join PSG.
Another
ongoing debate centered on Lazio’s Dutch defender Stefan De Vrij. He has signed
for Inter for next year and they happened to be their final opponents for the
remaining CL spot. In the end, he played on Sunday, but Inter won in Rome (3-2)
in dramatic fashion to clinch the CL spot. Had inter not won, some believed
that they would have had to sell Mauro Icardi among others.
The
day before on Saturday, Buffon played his last match for Juventus in (2-1) win
over Verona.
In
the end, Crotone were relegated along with Verone and Benevento.

Joachim
Low named the World Cup provisional squad. The players who failed to make the
cut included Mario Gotze (who scored the 2014 winning goal), Emre Can and
Sandro Wagner. Wagner afterwards retired from the National Team and attacked
Low. The injured Manuel Neuer surprisingly was included but it remains to be
seen whether he will make the final 23.
On
Saturday, Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Bayern Munich (3-1) in an upset in the
Final of the DfB Pokal. Frankfut Manager Nico Kovac is set to take over at
Bayern. This was Jupp Heynckes’ final act as Bayern Manager in his fourth and
final stint with the club.
