international retirement.

November 12, 1987, Austria Manager Branko Elsener announced that he would
resign following the qualifier vs. Romania.
Scotland
helped the Republic of Ireland qualify for the Euros by defeating Bulgaria
(1-0) in Sofia. Bulgaria Manager Hristo Mladenov would resign afterwards.
Czechoslovakia
defeated Wales (2-0) in a qualifier that turned out to be the last matches of
the respective managers Josef Masopust of Czechoslovakia and Mike England of
Wales.
England
defeated Yugoslavia (4-1) in Belgrade.
Italy
qualified for the Euros with a (2-1) win over Sweden with a double strike from
Gianluca Vialli.
Spain
defeated Albania (5-0) and qualified for the Euros with a hat trick by
Bakero. Francisco Llorente scored on
his debut. It was Albania Manager Agron Sulaj‘s last match in
charge.
Brank Elsener laed Austria for the last time in
their hoem scoreless draw with Romania.
