1-It was the first time the
final match was not held at the host's capital. At that time, Bonn was the
capital of West Germany. This feat is repeated later by Los Angeles in 1994 and
Yokohama in 2002.
2-It was the second time the same city which held the Summer Olympic two
years before, hosted the World Cup Final. The first city to achieve such feat
is Mexico City, which hosted the Summer Olympics in 1968, and World Cup Final
in 1970.
3-Helmut Schön
became the first manager to win the World Cup and the European Championship. He
has managed three straight final four finishes with the same nation.
4-In the second half, Gerd Müller scored a goal that
was ruled out offside.
