Ramón Armando Cabrero Muñíz 

Ramón Armando Cabrero Muñíz was an Argentinean midfielder from 60s-70s.
He had spells with a number of Spanish clubs in the 70s and later took up Management.
He passed away on November 1st, 2017,  aged 69.

Günter Hoge 
Günter Hoge was an East German striker from the late 1950s into the early 1970s.
He played for Vorwarts Berlin, Motor Kopenick TSC Berlin/Union Berlin and  Motor Hennigsdorf.
He earned 6 caps between 1961 and 1968.
He passed away on November 6th, 2017,  aged 77.


Feliciano Muñoz Rivilla 
Feliciano Muñoz Rivilla was a Spanish International defender from 50s and 60s.
He spent more than a decade at Atletico Madrid and was a member of Spain’s 1964 Euros winning squad.
He earned 26 caps between 1960 and 1965.
He passed away on November 6th, 2017,  aged 81.

Hans Schäfer 
Hans Schäfer was a West German winger form 50s and 60s.
He played for Koln for more than a decade from the late 40s into the 60s.
He represented West Germany in three World Cups  (1954, 1958 and 1962) and was a member of the 1954 World Cup winning squad.
He earned 39 caps between 1952 and 1962.
He passed away on November 7th, 2017, aged 90.

Josip Weber

Josip Weber was a Croatian-born, naturalized Belgian striker from the 80s and 90s.
He had a successful spell at Cercle Brugge upon joining in 1988, which eventually paved the way for the Belgian National Team in 1994 in time for the World Cup and also a transfer to Anderlecht.
In his International debut, he scored five goals as Belgium defeated Zambia (9-0).
Just two years prior in 1992, he had played for Croatia in three friendly matches.
He earned 3 caps for Croatia in 1992 and 8 caps for Belgium in 1994.
He passed away on November 6th, 2017, aged just 52 due to prostate cancer.

Akbar Eftekhari 
Akbar Eftekhari was an Iranian striker from the 60s and 70s.
He had spells at Daraei as well as both Taj and Perspolis among others.
He played for the National Team between 1966 and 1972.
He passed away on November 9th, 2017, aged 73.


Amar Rouaï 
Amar Rouaï was an Algerian midfielder from the 50s and 60s. He followed that with a long career as a Manager.
He had spells at Angers and was a member of Algeria’s FLN squad during its war of Independence from France.
He earned a solitary cap for Algeria in 1963, along with many other appearances with the FLN squad.
He passed away on November 11th, 2017, aged 85.


Julio Carlos Santiago ‘Ghito’ Vernazza 
Julio Carlos Santiago ‘Ghito’ Vernazza was an Argentinean forward from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at Platense and River Plate before transferring to Italy and playing for Palermo, AC Milan and Vicenza.
He earned 6 caps for Argentina.
He passed away on November 12th, 2017, aged 89.

Friedel Rausch

Friedel Rausch was a West German defender from the 60s into the early 70s.
He had a long spell at Schalke. He is mostly remembered as Manager in Germany and abroad.
He passed away on November 18th, 2017, aged 77. He had been diagnosed with Skin Cancer a decade earlier.

Janusz Marek Wójcik 

Janusz Marek Wójcik was a Manager (and later Politician) remembered for leading Poland to the Silver Medal in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
As a player he had spells at Gwardia Ursus and Hutnik Warzawa among others.
He also managed clubs such as Legia, Pogon as well as the full Poland National team and youth squads.
He passed away on November 20th, 2017, aged 64.

Luis Garisto Pan 

Luis Garisto Pan was an Uruguayn International from the 60s and 70s.
He had spells at Defensor, Independiente in Argentina and Cobreloa (in Chile).
He was a member of Uruguay’s 1974 World Cup squad.
He passed away on November 21st, 2017, aged 71.

Allan Harris 
Allan Harris was an English defender from the 60s and 70s and brother of Ron ‘Chopper’ Harris.
He had spells at Chelsea, Coventry, QPR among others. He was also Terry Venables Assistant at Barcelona in the 80s. He also managed Malaysia in the early 2000s.
He passed away on November 23rd, 2017, aged 74.

Ángel Antonio Berni Gómez 
Ángel Antonio Berni Gómez was a Paraguay striker from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at Olimpia, San Lorenzo and Real Betis among others.
He was a member of Paraguay’s 1950 World Cup squad.
He passed away on November 24th, 2017, aged 86.


Eliezer Spiegel 
Eliezer Spiegel was an Israeli striker from the 1940s and 50s.
He had spells at Maccabi Petah Tikva, Beita Tel Aviv. He later managed a string of teams for decades.
He passed away on November 26th, 2017, aged 95.

 

Zdeněk Šreiner 

Zdeněk Šreiner was a Czechoslovakian midfielder from the 70s and 80s.
He was a member of Czechoslovakia’s 1980 Olympics squad.
He earned 6 caps between 1980 and 1984.
He passed away on November 28th, 2017, aged 63.

Ján Strausz 
Ján Strausz was a Czechoslovakian forward from the 60s and 70s.
He had spells at Jednota Kosice and Dukla Prague among others.
He earned one solitary cap in 1965vs. Romania (May 30, 1965).
He passed away on November 29th, 2017, aged 75.

Henning Jensen 
Henning Jensen was a Danish forward from the 60s into the 80s.
He was one of the most successful Danish exports of his era and played for Moenchengladbach, Real Madrid and Ajax.
He earned 21 caps between 1972 and 1980.
He passed away on December 4th, 2017, aged 68 due to cancer.

Jacques ‘Jacky’ Simon 
Jacques ‘Jacky’ Simon was a French midfilder from the 60s and 70s.
He had spells at Nantes and Bordeaux among others.
He was a member of France’s  1966 World Cup squad.
He earned 15 caps between 1965 and 1969.
He passed away on December 5th, 2017, aged 76.

Benjamin Roger Massing 
Benjamin Roger Massing was a Cameroon defender from the 80s and 90s.
He was a member of Cameroon’s 1990 World Cup squad. In the 1990 World Cup opener he was famously sent off after a foul on Argentina’s Claudio Caniggia.
He earned 21 caps between 1987 and 1992.
He passed away on December 9th, 2017, aged just 55.

Ivan Stoyanov 
Ivan Stoyanov was a Bulgarian midfielder from the 60s and 70s.
He had a long spell at Levski Sofia.
He was a member of Bulgaria’s 1974 World Cup squad.
He earned 19 caps between 1972 and 1979.
He passed away on December 10th, 2017, aged 68.

Josef Pešice 
Josef Pešice was a Czechoslovakian midfielder from the 70s and 80s.
He had spells at Slavia Prague and Sparta Prague among others. He later had a long career as a Manager.
He was Manager of the Czech Republic National Team briefly in 2013.
He earned 39 caps between 1975 and 1982.
He passed away on December 18th, 2017, aged 67.

Jiří Sloup 
Jiří Sloup was a Czechoslovakian midfielder from the 70s and 80s.
He had spells at Skoda Plzen and Bohemians.
He earned 8 caps between 1982 and 1985.
He passed away on December 20th, 2017, aged 64.



Osvaldo Fattori 

Osvaldo Fattori was an Italian player from the 40s and 50s.
He represented the likes of Vicenza, Inter and Brescia. He won the 1953 and 1954 League titles with Inter.
He was a member of Italy’s 1950 World Cup squad.
He earned 4 caps between 1949 and 1950.
He passed away on December 27th, 2017, aged 95.

Stanisław Andrzej Terlecki 
Stanisław Andrzej Terlecki was a Polish forward from the 70s into the early 90s.
He had spells at LKS Lodz, as well as New York Cosmos in the NASL.
He earned 29 caps between 1976 and 1980.
He passed away on December 28th, 2017, aged 62.

Jackie Mooney 
Jackie Mooney was a was a Republic of Ireland player from the 60s and 70s.
He had spells at Shamrock Rovers and Athlone Town among others.
He earned 2 caps between 1964 and 1965.
He passed away on December 30th, 2017, aged 79.

Gert Brauer 
Gert Brauer was an East German defender from the 70s and 80s.
He represented Carl Zeiss Jena for more than a decade.
He earned 4 caps between 1979 and 1980.
He passed away on January 1st, 2018, aged 62.

Michael Pfeiffer
Michael Pfeiffer was an West German midfielder from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at Alemania Aachen and Rot Weiss Essen. He also managed many clubs at home and abroad in the 60s into the early 80s.
He earned a solitary cap for West Germany in 1954.
He passed away on January 2nd, 2018, aged 92.

Antonio Valentín Angelillo
Antonio Valentín Angelillo was an Argentinean-born forward from the 50s and 60s, who later became a naturalized Italian.
He made his name with Boca Juniors which paved the way to the Serie A where he represented both Milan sides (Inter, AC Milan) as well as Roma and Genoa.
He earned 11 caps between 1955 and 1957 for Argentina, as well as two caps for Italy between 1960 and 1962.
He passed away on January 5th, 2018, aged 80.

Hans Vilhelm Aabech was a Danish forward from the late 60s into the early 80s.
He had spells at Club Brugge, Twente Enschede among others.
He earned 3 caps between 1973 and 1974.
He passed away on January 8th, 2018, aged 69.

Juan Carlos García Barahona was a Honduran defender from the last decade.
He had spells at Necaxa and Cruz Azul.
He earned 44 caps between 1965 and 1971.
He passed away on January 8th, 2018, aged just 29 due to leukaemia.

Antonio Munguía Flores 
Antonio Munguía Flores was a Mexican midfielder from the 60s and 70s.
He had spells at Marathon, Olimpia and Wigan in England.
He was a member of Mexico’s 1970 World Cup squad.
He earned 39 caps between 2009 and 2014.
He passed away on January 8th, 2018, aged 75.

Thomas Johnstone Lawrence 
Thomas Johnstone Lawrence was a Scottish goalkeeper from the 50s and into the 70s.
He represented Liverpool over a decade before joining Tranmere Rovers.
He earned 3 caps between 1963 and 1969.
He passed away on January 10th, 2018, aged 77.

Pierre Grillet was a French striker from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at Racing Club Paris, Toulouse and Nantes.
He earned 9 caps between 1954 and 1960.
He passed away on January 10th, 2018, aged 85.

Raúl Antonio García Herrera 
Raúl Antonio García Herrera was an El Salvador goalkeeper from the 80s and 90s.
He had spells at UES and Aguila.
He represented his Nation from 1986 to 1997.
He passed away on January 11th, 2018, aged 55 due to cancer.

Takis Loukanidis 
Takis Loukanidis was a Greek midfielder from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at Doxa Dramas, Panathinaikos and Aris.
He earned 23 caps between 1958 and 1967.
He passed away on January 11th, 2018, aged 80.

Léon Ritzen 
Léon Ritzen was a Belgian striker from the 50s and 60s.
He had a long spell at Waterschei and also played for Racing White, Beerschot and Diest.
He earned 6 caps between 1960 and 1968.
He passed away on January 12th, 2018, aged 78.

Cyrille Regis
Cyrille Regis was an English striker from the 70s into the 90s.
He had significant spells at West bromwich Albion and Coventry.
He earned 5 caps between 1982 and 1987. He was the third black player to be capped by England.
He passed away on January 14th, 2018, aged just 59 from a heart attack.

Carl Emil Christiansen was a Danish striker from the 50s and 60s.
He represented Esbjerg for more than a decade.
He earned two caps for his Nation in 1962.
He passed away on January 15th, 2018, aged 80.

Bogusław Cygan 
Bogusław Cygan was a Polsih striker from 80s and 90s.
He had spells at Gornik Zabrze, Stal Mielec and Lausanne Sports among others.
He passed away on January 15th, 2018, aged just 53.

Rubén Oswaldo Díaz Figueras 
Rubén Oswaldo Díaz Figueras (known as Panadero) was a Argentinean defender from the 60s and 70s.
He made his name at Racing Club before transfering to Spain and Atletico Madrid. Afterwards his spell in Spaoin he returned to his former club Racing Club.
He passed away on January 16th, 2018, aged 72 from complications from an aortic aneurysm operation.

Philippe Gondet 
Philippe Gondet was a French striker from the 60s and 70s.
He is remembered for his spell at Nantes. He was a member of France’s 1966 World Cup squad.
He earned 14 caps between 1965 and 1970.
He passed away on January 21st, 2018, aged 75.

Tsukasa Hosaka 
Tsukasa Hosaka was a Japanese goalkeeper from the 50s and 60s.
He had a long spell at Furukawa Electric.
He earned 19 caps between 1960 and 1964. He was a member of Japan’s 1964 Olympics squad.
He passed away on January 21st, 2018, aged 80 due to pneumonia.

James Christopher Armfield
James Christopher Armfield was an English defender from the 50s and into the early 70s. He was a Legend in the English game and later managed as well as worked as a pundit.
He spent his playing career at Blackpool. He later managed sides like Bolton and Leeds.
He was a member of England’s 1966 World Cup squad, though he did not play.
He earned 43 caps between 1959 and 1966.
He passed away on January 22nd, 2018, aged 82 due to non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Reinier Kreijermaat 
Reinier Kreijermaat was a Dutch midfielder from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at USV Elinkwijk, Feyenoord and Xerxes.
He earned 2 caps in 1961.
He passed away on January 22nd, 2018, aged 82.

Keith David Pring was a Welsh Winger from the 60s and 70s.
He had spells at Newport County, Rotherham United, Notts County and Southport.
He earned 3 caps between 1965 and 1967.
He passed away on January 25th, 2018, aged 74.

Göran ‘Pisa’ Nicklasson
Göran ‘Pisa’ Nicklasson was a Swedish midfielder from the 60s and 70s.
He had spells at IFK Gothenburg and Sundsvall.
He was a member of Sweden’s 1970 World Cup squad.
He earned 8 caps between 1969 and 1970.
He passed away on January 27th, 2018, aged 75.

Paul E. Alcock 
Paul E. Alcock was an English Referee who officiated from the 80s into the 2000s.
He was the referee famously pushed Sheffield Wednesday’s Paolo Di Canio on Sepetember 26, 1998 in their encounter vs. Arsenal.
He passed away on January 29th, 2018, aged 64 due to cancer.

Rudolf ‘Rolf’ Schafstall 
Rudolf ‘Rolf’ Schafstall was a West German player from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at Hamborn and Reutlingen.
He is mostly remembered as a Manager starting the 70 into the next decades and managed many sides in the Bundesliga such as Bochum, Duisburg, Schalke among others.
He passed away on January 30th, 2018, aged 80.

Azeglio Vicini 
Azeglio Vicini was an Italian midfielder from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at Vicenza, Sampadoria and Brescia.
He is mostly remembered as Italy’s National Team Manager during the 1990 World Cup on home soil. Prior to that he managed the U-21 National side for nearly a decade.
He passed away on January 30th, 2018, aged 84.

Karoly Palotai was a Hungarian player from the 50s and 60s and later a Referee.
He had spells at Bekescsaba and Vasas most notably.
He was a member of Hunagry’s Gold winning 1964 Olympics squad.
He earned 15 caps between 1963 and 1964.
He passed away on February 3rd, 2018, aged 82.

Ladislav Kačáni  was a Czechoslovakian striker from the 50s and 60s.
He had a long spell at CH Bratoslava as well as spells at Slavia Bratislava and Inter Bratislava.
He managed the Czechoslovakia National Team (1971/72)
He earned 20 caps between 1953 and 1962.
He passed away on February 5th, 2018, aged 86.

Liam William Peter Miller 
Liam William Peter Miller was a Republic of Ireland midfielder from the 2000s and 2010s.
He played for many teams but is remembered for his spells at Celtic and Manchester United.
He earned 21 caps between 2004 and 2009.
He passed away on February 9th, 2018, aged just 36 from Pancreatic Cancer.

Joseph Bonnel  was a French midfielder from the 50s into the 70s.
He had a notable spell at Marseille, but also played for the likes of Montpellier, Valenciennes and Beziers.
He was a member of France’s 1966 World Cup squad.
He earned 25 caps between 1962 and 1969.
He passed away on February 13th, 2018, aged 79.

Georgi Slavev Markov was a Bulgarian defender from the 90s and 2000s.
He had spells at Botev Plovdiv, Lokomotiv Sofia and Levski Sofia among others.
He earned 36 caps between 1999 and 2005.
He passed away on February 18th, 2018, aged just 46 from a heart attack.

Lucien Bouchardeau 
Lucien Bouchardeau was a Nigrian Football Referee.
He officiated in official Tournaments in the 90s such as 1996 Olympics, 1998 World Cup among others.
He passed away on February 20th, 2018, aged just 56 from a heart attack.

Tsvetan Veselinov 
Tsvetan Veselinov was a Bulgarian midfielder from the 60s and 70s.
He had a long spell at Levski Sofia.
He earned 6 caps between 1968 and 1971.
He passed away on February 25th, 2018, aged 70.

Enrique Castro González, Quini 
Enrique Castro González, Quini was a Spanish striker from the 70s and 80s.
He was one of the greatest goalscorers of his Generation in the Spanish League.
He had a prolific career at Sporing Gijon before joining Barcelona.
He was a member of Spain’s 1978 and 1982 World Cup squads. He is also remembered foe being kidnapped in 1981.
He earned 35 caps between 1970 and 1982.
He passed away on February 27th, 2018, aged 68 after a heart attack.
