5-
The first time that a Scotland player was sent off in an International on home
soil was in 1972. Peter Lorimer (Leeds United) was sent off in the 84th
minute in a World Cup qualifier at Glasgow vs. Denmark (2-0) on November 15th,
1972. (Incidentally Lorimer had scored Scotland’s second goal in that match).
It
is also worth mentioning that Billy Steel (in 1951) was the first ever Scottish
player to be sent off, but Lorimer was the first one at home.
