1- Sergio
Brio
Italian
defender Sergio Brio was a solid defender in Giovanni Trappatoni’s Juventus
squad of the 1980s. He formed a solid central defensive partnership with
Gaetano Scirea. He was one of the rare Juventus players not be capped as Fulvio
Collovatti was always Enzo Bearzot’s choice for that position. He had to contend
with Olympic caps.

3- Roland
Grahammer
Former
Nuremberg defender Roland Grahammer was signed by Bayern Munich in the summer
of 1988, shortly before he represented West Germany in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
Despite solid performances for Bayern, he was never able to make the leap to
the full national team.

4- John
Beresford
English
defender John Beresford was part of Kevin Keegan’s exciting and attack
minded Newcastle squad of the 1990s.
His performances earned him two ‘B’ caps in 1994, however, Terry Venables did
not select him for the full national team.
5- John
Brown
Scottish
defender John Brown joined Rangers Glasgow in 1988 from Dundee. For nearly a decade he was a solid team performer
and was a member of the Rangers squads that won nine League titles in a row. He
was surprisingly never selected for the national team at a time when just about
every Rangers player was.
